We worked with this home owner for a little over a year on the kitchen design for this historic home in Alexandria, VA near Mount Vernon.
We opened up the wall between the kitchen and the parlor, creating a peninsula with seating area. We removed the entire exterior wall of the kitchen which originally had a small window and small door. We installed french doors and filled in the exterior wall with stone that matched the original. We also added exterior steps and lighting to the back of the house.
The kitchen cabinetry is a shaker style door with white paint and coordinating appliance front panels to create a seamless look. We included great interior convenience & storage options in the cabinetry including a double tiered cutlery divider (one of my favorites!).
The cast iron apron front sink and period styled fixtures blend the new kitchen with the rest of the house. Our goal was to create a new space that fit in with its surroundings. Honed Calcutta Marble was installed on the countertops and backsplash in the kitchen. We also installed decorative accents such as the cabinet matching wood ventilation hood, open shelf cabinets, pendant lights, and decorative molding.
To further integrate the new kitchen, we continued the hardwood flooring from the adjoining rooms throughout the kitchen, as well as continuing the wood beams on the ceiling and the tongue and groove ceiling panels. We included luxury conveniences such as an insta-hot at the sink and a pot filler at the range as well.
We proudly serve Fairfax, VA and the many communities of Northern Virginia, Washington DC and Maryland.
